TRAVEL AND CRUISES
The Holy Week of Malaga, has an ancestral tradition that dates back to the time of the Catholic Monarchs. The city of Malaga is the capital of the Costa de Sol and is located in the south of Spain, a land that in the 21st century coexists perfectly with modernity and its traditions. The most famous of these traditions is undoubtedly the well-known Semana Santa de Málaga.
During more than 500 years of history uninterruptedly, the Holy Week of Malaga has remained present in the religious and popular feeling of the people of Malaga. On February 16, 1980 it was declared of International Tourist Interest. A spectacular event of a religious, social and cultural nature that attracts millions of visitors to the capital of the Costa del Sol.
Every year, the Week of Passion in Malaga puts on the streets an authentic spectacle perceptible by the five senses, its thrones, carrying the images that are swayed throughout the journey, thousands of Nazarenes and penitents who are giving light and color with their candles and costumes for the itinerary, processional marches that fill with the particular music of Holy Week, aromas of incense and flowers to the passage of the processions and thousands of people who crowd to see and applaud their favorite brotherhoods.
The Holy Week in Malaga will be very different for those who do not know it and will be surprised to see that a Passion Week is not lived here with recollection and silence. In Malaga, Holy Week is lived with joy, with bustle, with cheers, with spontaneous arrows and applause at the pace of the images.
